Services

Finding the right treatment program and/or the right therapist is critical to the success of any treatment program. Shop around until you are comfortable with the philosophy and background of a prospective therapist. Make sure that you (or your child) feel comfortable. Don’t be afraid to interview several people before making your choice. Look for comprehensiveness in terms of services offered and flexibility in terms of how services are delivered. The Norton practice offers evening and weekend hours, individual and family therapy, and coaching for a healthy lifestyle.

About

Individual Therapy

I offer 1 to 5 sessions a week, depending on my patient's needs. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy or Mindfulness training to identify the triggers for dysfunctional behavioral patterns. In conjunction, I use a family systems-based approach to change behavioral patterns involving family members or loved ones that may hinder the individual’s progress.

Individual sessions focus on 4 primary areas:

01
Identifying and Managing Life Stressors (i.e. academic, job, family dynamics)
02
Identifying and Managing Emotional Triggers
03
Identifying and Managing Nutritional/Medical/Neurochemical Components
04
When it comes to lifestyle issues, I offer Clean Eating Protocols and fitness/coaching support.

About

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy can be incredibly beneficial for any romantic relationship, regardless of how long a couple has been together. Many couples face difficulties and challenges in their relationships, and these can be difficult to overcome without the help of a professional. Contact Dr.Norton
  • Improve Communication

One of the most significant benefits of couples therapy is the improvement of communication between partners. Many couples struggle to communicate effectively, leading to misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and ongoing conflicts. A therapist can help couples to learn how to listen to one another, express themselves clearly, and avoid misunderstandings.

  • Identify Problems Early On

Couples whose relationships are struggling often wait too long before seeking help. By the time they do decide to try therapy, the problems have already escalated, and it can be more challenging to overcome them. Couples therapy can help identify problems early on, before they become too severe, and work on them in a manageable fashion.

  • Strengthen Bond

Through couples therapy, couples can each gain a better understanding of themselves and their partner. This understanding can deepen the emotional connection between the two partners, leading to increased intimacy and a stronger bond.

About

Family Therapy

Family therapy is an important component of treatment, both in terms of understanding how familial patterns may have been contributing factors in the presenting problem and in terms of empowering loved ones to be more effective in their daily lives. Initially, family therapy takes place two to four times per month. The focus of this kind of therapy is:

01
Educational
It is essential for family members to understand the dynamics of any dysfunctional behavior.
02
Insightful
Other family-related issues such as divorce, illness or death of a family member, or parenting styles can play a role in maintaining the dysfunctional behavior.
03
Behavioral
There is a strong behavioral element in parenting that must be identified as it can either contribute to or alleviate problems that children are having.

WELLNESS COACHING &
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PACKAGES

The goals of wellness coaching are aimed at correcting poor eating habits, reversing the aging process, and restoring you to a state of health without medications, diets, or gimmicks. I use a bio-psycho-social approach to healing, or one that is “holistic/functional.” The following are the foundational components or the bedrock upon which great health is built:

  • Understanding and managing thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and habits that can interfere with healthy behaviors.
  • Understanding the role that conventional food plays in the illnesses plaguing Americans, especially those suffering from obesity. Learning how to avoid problem foods.
  • Learning how to use food to heal and restore normal weight and good health. My customized protocols, developed by Dr. Norton after years of research, actually work when it comes to healing the body and creating life-changing positive outcomes.
